One of the reasons we have big deer is because of
the rich soils found in our creek and river bottoms.
These rich soils allow the farmers to grow just about
anything a deer loves to eat, from the alfalfa and
wheat to the row crops of soybeans, corn and
sorghum.  All of a deer's nutrient requirements are
being met and far exceeded in most cases, which
allows them to grow those nice antlers.  The genetics
traits to future generations.  Most yearlings you will
see in the area are forkhorns (6-pointers).  Rarely will
you see spikes, because the nutrient requirements
are being met and the genetics are being passed
down.  A  2 1/2 year old deer will generally be an
8-pointer with some being 10's, it just gets better from
here!
